Dear Quince

I’m guessing that today begins the flurry of garden gratitudes?! This morning is the Quince —among ohters. Yet last year I planted the Quince. Barely 4” tall, you persisted through the summer in the spot I planted you and were possibly 6” when the fall descended on the garden. This late winter/early spring I dug you up and potted you in a container on the patio. You seemed to like it, although it remained cold, windy and/or rainy for the few weeks since the move. This morning, what did I see? The white and magnificent flowers that you promised in all the catalogs. Still just about 8” yet sporting about 6-8 flowers! I will be heading out this afternoon when it is much warmer to witness your beauty some more!
