Dear Charles

There are many reasons that I am grateful to have you in my life. Shared reality, friendship, and the like. Right now I am wanting to thank you for gifting me the slate chalkboard all those years ago;. Maybe even approaching 30? Not quite. I remember the day after we met at Essene and you told me you were a teacher. I’m not sure how the chalkboard conversation began, or even the slate chalkboard. I do remember you carrying this one and gifting it to me. Not quite confident of the memory because now I’m wondering how I got it to my house at 3rd and Vine. Anyway, I have my carpenter at the time build a frame and attach it to the wall in my office. I would post events, etc. It has come with me to Fairmount Avenue and now here on Thompson Street. It is on my third floor office wall and I like it just as much if not more than I did when you gave it to me. I write important things on it, and do yoga against it. It fits perfectly between the floor and sloped ceiling and perfectly between the windows. Like our friendship, it is a gift that keeps on giving. Thank you Charles, for our many conversations, for care and particularly now, the slate chalkboard.
